In a determined bid to give fillip to his government anti-corruption war, the Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu and others may be sacked and replaced any moment from now, a source has revealed .

In an exclusive interview, the source very close to the presidency disclosed that the ministers marked for the sack are the ones found out to ‘be corrupt and are huge embarrassment’ to the Buhari government by a specially constituted monitoring group by President Buhari early last year.

According to the source who is a top official of the Buhari kitchen cabinet, the main yardsticks for the ministers’ sack is confirmed instances of name dropping for corrupt acquisition of properties and convert deals in their ministries, department and agencies under their statutory supervision.

The source also disclosed that unknown to the ministers marked for sack that they were being monitored, most of their corrupt under-the-counter deals were submitted last month and in his characteristic thorough manner,”President Buhari has taken time to study the files and come up with the decision to do away with deadwoods and corrupt elements in his administration in order to show the entire world that he is determined and will not spear anyone found wanting among his lieutenants in his anti-corruption war”.

“The case of Shittu is particularly very pathetic because the presidency has found out that he has not only been hiding under fake religious gab to deceive the whole nation and perpetrate damning corruption right from his CPC gubernatorial days in Oyo State when he misappropriated the party’s money for personal gains, he has been the most embarrassing name-dropper to Mr. President’ since 2015, the source revealed.

The source further disclosed, “The most brazen and aggravating of all Barrister Shittu’s alleged corrupt moves is his latest official directive to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communication to issue a memo to key officials of his ministry and DGs of all the 5 Agencies under his watch that President Buhari has directed that all contracts should be henceforth set aside to take care of his political associates and select politicians who had worked for his emergence in the 2015 presidential election”.

Finally, it was gathered that when the news of Shittu’s corrupt means of accessing funds for his inordinate ambition to take over from Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State in 2019 got to the Chief of Staff to the President and the memo confirmed, he felt badly embarrassed and scandalized.

Accordingly, boiling over because he was aware that President Buhari never asked anyone or any minister to set aside any contract for any purpose for him, the Chief of Staff was said to have taken the report to Mr. President, who was said to be visibly angry at Shittu’s unsolicited  memo and also said to have, from day one in the office, strictly instructed trusted men in his administration to report instances of name-dropping to perpetrate any form of evil or corruption practice by any of his lieutenant to him swiftly and directly.

It was equally gather that thereafter, a decision was taken to do away with other proven corrupt elements in the Buhari administration and Shittu, who, according  to information, will be replaced by a reputable professional from Oyo State to superintend over a very vital Ministry which is at the heart of genuine national development. 

It will be recalled that a former aide of the embattled Minister of Communications, in a post that went viral a week ago, had chided Barrister Shittu of name-dropping and asked him to stop embarrassing and comparing himself to President Buhari who is internationally known and appreciated as an incorruptible leader.

In a related development, Barrister Shittu has finally paid the outstanding sundry debt of about 110,000 (One hundred and ten thousand) naira he owed Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu, his Chief Security Guard on Monday, 9th of April 2018, as a result of the pressure mounted on him by www.harohkah.blogspot.com.ng last week.

Under-fire Barrister Shittu who has been trending on the social media for the wrong reasons and journalists delight for negative stories, audaciously went on a live radio program, Fresh FM Ibadan, at the weekend to debunk various 'spurious' allegations against him which he attributed to the handiwork of his 'political enemies' because of his popularity to become the next Governor of Oyo State in 2019.

  

The trio of Bisi Oladele, Demola Babalola and Dare Adekanbi of The nation, This Day and Tribune newspapers, cross examined him on  'Crossfire' , anchor by Mayor Isaac Brown on the issues of his 'use and dump attitude' towards people especially his aides whom he seldom pays their salaries.

Barrister Shittu in his reactions confessed that it is true  'he makes promises he does not have to fulfill as there were other promises he had fulfill that many are not talking about. More so the state governors are owing their staff so it is no big deal if he is owing.

He further stressed that most of the claims made by aides lack locus standi because many of them believe that assuming the office of the Honourable Minister means easy money for them and once the easy money is not coming in they go out to soil his image.

To prove his innocence on the  corruption charges leveled against him by his aides, the Minister said he has file a suit in the court against his aide and those issue would be clarified in the court of law .

He further clarifies that he never stole a penny from government coffers but borrowed money without collateral from an Islamic bank to build his house in Abuja as well as 'Estacodes' given from his foreign trips.

He later had a running battle live with Omoyele Sowore, publisher of the popular online news Sahara Reporter whom he tagged 'inconsequential' to the ambition of the Mr President of Nigeria, a statement that did not go well with many especially the youths considering the contributions and roles of Sahara Reporter played in the 2015 general election which ushered in the government of All People's Congress.

Seven of the personal staff made up  of  drivers, security guards and a cleaners were paid two months salaries out of  their accumulated four months.

The lawyers and the secretary in his Chamber were paid 2 months out of the accumulated four months salary and laid them off. He however allow them the use of his chamber for the next six months and was not clear whether this is Lieu of the outstanding salaries. Before now,other lawyers left because of the ministers strange  behaviour and lack of support for the Chamber among them is 'Barrister  Sulia' a close ally of the Minister before their relationship went awry.

One of our reliable source, who prefer anonymity said that Barrister Shittu once reported to have issue a dude cheque to the Nigerian Union of Journalists Oyo state Council during the Press week under the chairmanship of Mr Gbenga Opadotun few years ago which  till date he has refuse to redress or address the situation by fulfilling the pledges he made to the unions.

The Honourable Minister for Communications also was said to have nearly got a journalist (Name with held) working with Crown FM radio, Ife arrested for presenting a dude cheque of  25,000 (Twenty Five thousand) naira issued to him by the Honourable minister at the counter.

' I think the guy did not suspect any foul play from Barrister Shittu after presenting the cheque at the counter and was asked by the cashier to step aside. While waiting for his 25,000 naira largesse from the minister to be paid, he was held by the DSS and  securities at the bank for forging Honourable Minister's cheque .

'The Ife, Osun State  based journalist, found it difficult to believe that a serving minister under President Muhammed Buhari, a barrister at law could issue a dude cheque to him for a paltry sum of 25,000 naira!.

Fortunately for him, the so called front runner to the number one seat in Oyo state responded to his call and was released after convincing the Bank Management that the cheque was not stolen but issued by him'
